Kotla Hydro Power Private Ltd was incorporated in 2001 as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for setting up Mini Hydro Power Projects on canal falls in the state of Punjab along the Kotla branch canal. The company has implemented three small hydropower projects on Kotla Branch Canal with an aggregate capacity of 3.75 MW,down stream.
The company commenced construction activities in the month of November 2003 and the first plant at Babanpur started generation in July 2004. The second project was commissioned in November 2005 and the last project was commissioned on November 2006.The entire generation from the power plants is being sold to the Punjab State Electricity Board and the company has been receiving the payment against these sales in time as per the Power Purchase Agreements executed with the Punjab State Electricity Board
