Karnataka Neeravari Nigam is planning to set up Ghatti Basavanna dam in Gokak in Belgaum in Karnataka. The project involves construction of a dam with a height of 550 meters across Markendaya river to store 6 TMC of water. It will provide drinking water to villages of Gokak, Hukkeri, Soudatti, Bailahongal.
The company has invited bids in January 2021 to select the EPC contractor. The scope of project includes appurtenant work, water treatment plant, laying of approach road, construction of view point, dam seating, dam office and guest house etc.,
The project cost is estimated at ₹ 764 crore with completion period of 24 months.
