PSPCL to develop 206 MW Shapurkhandi hydel project

Punjab State Power Corp Ltd is planning to develop ShapurKhandi Hydel project across Ravi river in Pathankot district of Punjab. The project involves construction of 6 x 33 MW power houses and a 1 x 8 MW power unit. The EPC contract work for the turbine unit has been awarded to BHEL. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 2073 crore.

The project has been revived after resolving all pending issues with the Jammu and Kashmir Government and rehabilitation issues. The project would result in increased irrigation of 5000 hectares across the state. Apart from generating clean power, the project would also improve irrigation potential of 1.18 lakh hectares of Upper Bari Doab Canal.
